Grenadine

Serve it cold by itself or with cake and cookies of your choice.

Procedure

  1. Put sugar and water in a saucepan and mix with a wooden spoon. Place over high heat and bring to boil for a couple of minutes.
  2. Stir in lemon juice, reduce heat to medium, and cook covered for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add grenadine extract, stir, and cook for several minutes. Turn off heat and set aside. When cool, transfer into a dry glass jar and cover with the lid.
  4. Pour club soda into the glass, add grenadine syrup and stir. Add ice cubes and serve.

Serve it cold by itself or with cake and cookies of your choice.

Tip — Grenadine syrup stays fresh in your cupboard up to a year.
