Green Bean Stew

Yakhnit Loubieh b’Lahmeh

Serve it hot or warm with Rice with Vermicelli, fresh pita bread, Yogurt and Rice Sauce or plain yogurt.

Procedure

  1. Place green beans in a pot with ½ cup water and bring to a boil over high heat. Add ½ teaspoons salt, stir and reduce heat to medium. Cook covered for 12 minutes.
  2. While beans are cooking, melt clarified butter in the skillet over medium-high heat and sauté onion for a couple of minutes. Add meat and cook until brown, then stir in seven spices and cinnamon. Reduce heat to medium and cook covered for 10 minutes.
  3. Add cooked green beans, pepper and salt to meat mixture, mix well and cook until beans and meat are tender. Transfer to a large platter and serve.

Serve it hot or warm with Rice with Vermicelli, fresh pita bread, Yogurt and Rice Sauce or plain yogurt.

Tip — Green beans can be cooked a couple of days in advance if kept refrigerated in a closed container. The rice can be prepared on another burner while the stew is cooking.
