Chocolate Cake

Serve it at room temperature by itself or with ice cream

Procedure

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, measure flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Stir to combine and set aside.
  3. Crack eggs in a medium-sized bowl, discard shells and add vanilla. Mix on high with electric mixer for 2 minutes.
  4. Add milk and butter, and mix for another minute. Pour wet mixture over dry mixture and gently fold until well blended.
  5. Slowly pour mixture into the pan, place it in the oven on the middle rack and bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Open the oven and insert a toothpick or the tip of a thin sharp knife into the middle of the cake until it touches the bottom of the pan. The toothpick should come out clean; if it comes out coated with batter, bake the cake for 5 more minutes.
  7. When cake is done, take it out of the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes, then invert it onto a rack to cool.

Serve it at room temperature by itself or with ice cream

Tip — When the cake is cool, cover with plastic wrap for a week or refrigerate in a closed container for up to 2 weeks.
